On the 10th of December, there took the Christmas concert which is held annually in the school. To prepare for this, at the beginning of the term, I started the orchestra. Because I play the violin, I was able to participate in the orchestra and every week I had practiced the pieces that were to be played on the Christmas concert. The music pieces that were to be played were demanding and it was a challenge for me. Despite me being able to play the violin, I knew that I didn't have a spectacular ability in the musical field. However, I undertook the practices with and without the orchestra and exerted most of my endeavor to master the pieces without making any mistakes. Thus I attended the practices during monday's activity with full enthusiasm.
On the actual day, when it was time for the orchestra to come on stage, I felt a sudden rush of anxiety within my body. I started to tremble and the music pieces I practiced started to elude me. I wasn't able to focus and all I was able to spot was the conductor (Mr. Mongare) holding his arms which meant it the start was imminent. I took a deep breath and played the music pieces flawless.
The orchestra performance was a great success where many applauded and all the members had smiles which represented their pride and satisfaction of the concert. For me it was a relief that I finished the concert without any embarrassing moments. However soon I felt more confident in my performance with my violin and I learnt that I by practicing before the actual concert day was a great advantage for my flawless performance. From this accomplishment, I was able to develop the tenacity to do the practices which would later lead in a more confident performance and once again I was reminded of the old saying "Practice makes Perfect". Through this experiment, I believe that I would be able to gain more confidence and with this successful method I can implement it to other aspects of my life such as preparing for a exam.
