Volleyball Matches

I attended several volleyball matches with other school volleyball teams. I am not a student heavily involved in sports in school. Therefore, when I was given the opportunity to participate in this tournament, I promised myself to do my best. Victory would have been preferable, but my main objective was to have a great time with my friends and enjoy the rare opportunity for me to represent the school in a sports event.

I played several games with various schools in Pattaya and participated in the volleyball tournament. Our team didn't have enough time to practice, but we did manage to squeeze some lunch time practices with the team which allowed us to perform better in the matches. We did not win every game, but we did taste some victory. But the fact that our team players enjoyed the games without showing frustration and anger during the games was incredible. Indeed it was an activity which I wouldn't normally do in school, but I tried my best and exerted full endeavor to create the best result for the team.

Some difficulties were encountered where the opponents were very serious and that sometimes our team mates would get serious as well. Some expressed distaste in the game; however, whenever a person showed this emotion, we gathered around and cheered to eachother. By saying 'it's ok' and giving high-fives when a good performance was made during the game caused our team spirit to increase.

From here I was able to realise that when in a group, encouragement was always a good tool to bring good results to the team. Rather rebuking others for their mistakes, it is wiser to use compliments to encourage motivation within your team. Also, rather than complaining on the mistake, to accept the mistake and to move on with a smile is what I learnt from the volleyball matches. In addition, I had a great time playing with my teammates thus I think I have gained a lot from this activity.
